The association state that “a structural, yearly biomonitoring programme is essential to track and address Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) emissions. Systematic biomonitoring can reveal trends in POP contamination, providing critical data for effective environmental protection. Implementing an annual biomonitoring programme ensures transparency and fosters accountability in managing environmental health risks. Communities deserve the tools to monitor POP contamination levels and demand timely action to safeguard their environment”.

To explain the environmental and social value of biomonitoring, ZWE states: “We created this video to spotlight the importance of biomonitoring research. We believe it is a good opportunity to promote biomonitoring for the communities fighting incinerators”.
